Book trailers for WORDS SET ME FREE, by Lesa Cline-Ransome, illustrated by James Ransome and James Ransome’s WHEN GRANDMAMA SINGS, by Margaree King Mitchell

Starred in Publishers Weekly and School Library Journal, WORDS SET ME FREE, written by Lesa Cline-Ransome and illustrated by James Ransome, is the powerful story of Frederick Douglass's early life. Here is the book trailer to what School Library Journal calls "a concise, accessible, beautifully illustrated book based on Douglass’s Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass."

Here, too, is the book trailer to James Ransome’s WHEN GRANDMAMA SINGS, which Publishers Weekly called “a stirring reminder that it’s never too late to chase one’s dreams, no matter the obstacles” and Kirkus called a “gentle story that shows the everyday realities of segregation through the observant eye of a child.” Written by Margaree King Mitchell, it is it is filled, as Kirkus says, with “watercolors in warm tones of yellows and browns to reveal nuances of expression and the warmth of family and community."

We hope you enjoy them both.
