Bodeen recently received this letter from an English teacher in Oklahoma about
THE COMPOUND:
“The
Compound is an extremely popular checkout in our library. My friend Yvonne is
the Hi-Prep reading teacher at our school, and because our librarian ordered a
class set of THE COMPOUND, she was able to add it to her curriculum this year.
Yvonne said her kids couldn't put it down, most especially, the Spanish
speakers who have trouble with English! It was great to hear that the kids
wanted to start class on time every day, and they can't wait to read the
sequel! These are the types of kids who don't go anywhere near a book. I wanted
to let you know how inspiring your book has been within our school….”
What
a great way for ESL students to improve their language acquisition. Way to go,
