Nicholasa Mohr celebrates a new Spanish Harlem bookstore with a reading from NILDA on 6/3/2012

On Sunday, June 3, at 3:00 pm, Nicholasa Mohr will celebrate the opening of a new bookstore, La Casa Azul, in Spanish Harlem by reading from her classic novel about life as an immigrant in New York City, NILDA. This was the author's first novel, launched 44 years ago, and it has never been out of print.

The goal of this new bookstore is to create a community center in East Harlem for both readers and writers, to create a place where reading, writing and creative expression is encouraged, and a place where ideas, curiosity and community spirit are celebrated.
