S.A. Bodeen's THE COMPOUND wins Indiana’s 2011-2012 Young Hoosier Award

We're pleased to announce that THE COMPOUND by S.A. Bodeen is the winner of Indiana's 2011-2012 Young Hoosier Book Award in the middle grade category!

This award is especially significant to Stephanie, since she was born in Indiana.

Established in 1974-1975, the Young Hoosier Book Award (YHBA) program serves to stimulate recreational reading among elementary and middle school/junior high school children and to encourage cooperation between administrators, school media specialists, teachers, public libraries, and the community in providing good reading experiences for Indiana school children. The award committee, composed of members of the Association of Indiana School Library Educators (AISLE), selects 20 nominees for each category (Picture Book, Intermediate, Middle Grades) from titles suggested by teachers, students, parents, public librarians, and media specialists. The students themselves choose the winners in each category. Last year more than 73,000 students throughout the state voted for their favorite book.

In addition to the Young Hoosier Award, THE COMPOUND has won the Maryland Black-Eyed Susan Award and the Nebraska Golden Sower Award.

Please join us in congratulating this Indiana native on her growing list of awards!
