Wendell Minor's THE BUFFALO ARE BACK is a 2012-2013 SD Prairie Pasque Award nominee

THE BUFFALO ARE BACK by Jean Craighead George and illustrated by Wendell Minor is a South Dakota Prairie Pasque Award nominee for 2012-2013.

Sponsored by the South Dakota Library Association, this award is determined by South Dakota third, fourth, and fifth grade students, who are encouraged to read and vote for their one favorite book of the year from the master lists of titles. A committee of educators and librarians select the books nominated for this award.

The books receiving the most votes from the students win the award and it is announced in April during National Library Week. The following fall, the winner's creator is invited to accept the award at the South Dakota Library Association convention
